Certificate III in Business Administration
A Certificate III in Business Administration (BSB30415) will develop your skills in business administration, financial administration and customer service. The course is designed to prepare you for entering the workplace in a range of administrative roles including as a receptionist, payroll officer, customer service roles and office demonstration roles.
Uniquely, this course offers you the opportunity to complete your training alongside the relief services of YWAM Ships, allowing you to gain real ‘on the job’ experience within the context of a charitable service.
Cohort starts in January 2020.
Certificate III in Events
A Certificate III in Events (SIT30516) will provide a pathway for you to work for event or exhibition organisers in a range of industries. These include the tourism, travel, hospitality, sport, cultural and community sectors. The course is designed to prepare you to work with some independence under the guidance of senior event personnel. Our training is also suitable for those already working within event-related roles and are interested in further developing their skills.
You will complete six core units, which will prepare you to work effectively with others, participate in safe work practices, process registrations and provide customer services. There are a broad range of additional units which allow you to focus on your areas of interest.
Certificate III in Hospitality
A Certificate III in Hospitality (SIT30616) provides a pathway to work in organisations such as restaurants, hotels, motels, clubs, pubs, cafés, and coffee shops. The course is designed to prepare you to work effectively and safely in hospitality service, provide customer service and coach others in job skills. The Food Services (Front of House) stream will develop your skills in preparing and presenting simple dishes, preparing and serving non-alcoholic beverages and safely handling food.
You will gain experience on the YWAM Townsville Campus which provides daily meals and hosts regular events, as well as providing food services for the YWAM Ships operations both in Australia and Papua New Guinea.
Cohort starts in January 2020.
Certificate III in Information, Digital Media and Technology
A Certificate III in Information, Digital Media and Technology (ICT30115) provides a pathway for people seeking employment in a range of roles within the Information Computer Technology (ICT) sector including IT support technician, help desk officer, ICT operations and technical support roles. The course is also suitable for people currently employed in the sector who are interested in further developing their knowledge and skills.
The course is divided into four streams: Applications, Networking, Support and Web Technologies. Each stream includes common foundational units which cover effective communication processes, the implementation of environmentally sustainable work practices and compliance with intellectual property requirements. You will complete three modules in your stream to allow you to focus on a chosen area of interest.
Certificate III in Screen and Media
A Certificate III in Screen and Media (CUA31015) provides introductory training for people interested in radio, media and broadcasting. The core units will develop and extend your critical thinking skills and prepare you to work effectively and safely within the creative arts industry. It provides a pathway to work in digital video and radio operation, online content creation or assisting in film and television production. The course is delivered through a combination of online and face to face learning and you will receive real, ‘on the job’ experience throughout the course.
The course structure allows you to choose from a range of electives to further develop your skills in specific areas. Elective units provide opportunities for you to learn to follow a design process, present programs on air, prepare and organise content for broadcast, complete basic sound editing, make presentations and effectively use social media for greater impact.

Certificate IV in Youth Work
A Certificate IV in Youth Work (CHC40413) provides a pathway to work with young people in a range of government, community and youth sectors. You will be trained to develop and facilitate programs for young people that addresses their social, behavioural, health, welfare, developmental and safety needs. You will develop skills to work effectively with young people from diverse backgrounds within a community development framework.
The course structure allows you to choose elective units to develop skills in specific areas including developing networks and facilitating responsible behaviour. The course is delivered through a combination of online and face-to-face learning, and you will gain real, ‘on the job’ experience throughout your training.
Certificate IV in Marketing and Communications
A Certificate IV in Marketing and Communications (BSB42415) is designed for people who are interested to develop their skills in marketing within a socially responsible framework. The training will benefit those interested in or who are already a part of charitable and socially responsible enterprises. You will develop skills in public relations, practical promotions and building your brand.
The course structure allows you to choose from a range of electives to further develop your skills in specific areas. The course is delivered through a combination of online and face-to-face learning, and you will have the option of gaining ‘on the job’ experience as part of your training.
Introduction to Global Health and Development
The Introduction to Global Health & Development course calls for those with a heart to see communities thriving; physically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. During the course, you will be immersed in a powerful combination of essential basic healthcare knowledge and community development training, with a focus on preventing illness, promoting holistic wellbeing, and empowering communities to develop their strengths.
Certificate IV in Christian Missions
The Certificate IV in Christian Missions (C4CM) (10173NAT) is a two-year course that trains you in the core aspects of being a full-time volunteer at YWAM. The C4CM is the general foundational training for all YWAM Townsville staff. You will be equipped with ministry skills and knowledge to be able to work effectively in a team. Develop your gifts and skills, participate in outreach options in Australia and in Papua New Guinea, and be a part of the dynamic ministry here at YWAM Townsville.
Diploma in Christian Missions
The Diploma in Christian Missions Leadership (CML) (10174NAT) is a two-year course that gives you an opportunity to develop your understanding of leadership within a missional context, and grow in your leadership skills.
You will be equipped to plan and lead others in projects and ministry activities in Australia and Papua New Guinea, all the while being a part of the dynamic community here at YWAM Townsville!

The Introduction to Communication, PR & Marketing course (BSB42415 – Certificate IV in Marketing and Communications) lays essential foundations in Biblical communication while advancing your skills, confidence and application in writing, speaking, listening – as well as giving and receiving feedback.
It aims to sharpen your ability to communicate through cross-cultural and interpersonal dynamics, and equips you with principles of preparing and delivering a message to a variety of audiences.
